Blame Game

Yesterday our gas prices went from $3.69 to $4.09! Crazy!
So, just a quick question...
Why is it that everyone went through the roof back when President Bush was in office if the gas prices went up 5-10 cents, yet all of a sudden gas is well over $4.00 and it doesn't seem as if anyone has a problem with it...?
I don't get it. How can everything bad be one President's fault but for the next guy there's always someone else to blame?
Maybe I'm missing something - anyone able to help me out and/or explain this...?

  1. What's there not to get? Conservative media blames Obama, Liberal media blames Bush. There's a heck of a lot more liberal media out there to be heard.

This sort of blame game has gone on for ages. If you recall, 9/11 was Bush's fault, yet the first attack on the WTC came under Clinton and the failure to act decisively against Osama bin Laden was his. There may not have been a 9/11 had he been more focused on security and less on interns. Instead, the media focused on W's word smithing and seemingly detached presence during his visit to that Florida school on the morning of the attack. Similarly, the media demonized no-one when chimpanzee images of W appeared in the press, but called it insensitive and racist when similar images of Obama appeared.

Objectivity in the media is no more, if it ever was.

  2. trebord - I knew you'd help me out!

I for one would trust the media more if I thought they were even remotely objective...even the media I "like" you have to take with a bucket of salt...
